Kelvin to Fahrenheit chains an offset and a scale: F = (K − 273.15) × 9/5 + 32. A 300 K room is 80.33 °F; the 5778 K solar surface is 9940.73 °F. Subtract 273.15 first to reach Celsius, then apply the Celsius-to-Fahrenheit step. This conversion is rare in daily life — Kelvin appears mostly in physics and lighting colour-temperature ratings (a 2700 K warm bulb, a 6500 K daylight bulb), where the Fahrenheit equivalent is almost never quoted.
Incandescent-filament and cryogenic engineering both work in Kelvin natively and convert to Fahrenheit only for a US-market spec sheet: liquid nitrogen's boiling point, 77 K, is −321.07 °F, a working tungsten filament at 3000 K is 4940.33 °F, and tungsten's melting point at 3695 K is 6191.33 °F. At these extremes the two scales diverge by thousands of degrees, so quoting a Kelvin figure without the Fahrenheit conversion is common in US patent filings that otherwise use customary units throughout.

About the kelvin and the degree Fahrenheit
The kelvin
The kelvin (K) is the SI base unit of thermodynamic temperature. Since the 2019 SI redefinition it is defined by fixing the Boltzmann constant to exactly 1.380649 × 10⁻²³ J/K. Zero kelvin is absolute zero, the lowest temperature theoretically possible. The kelvin is preferred in science and engineering because it has a true zero — temperature ratios become physically meaningful, unlike on the Celsius or Fahrenheit scales. Note: by convention there is no degree sign — 300 K, not 300 °K.
The degree Fahrenheit
The degree Fahrenheit (°F) is the customary temperature scale in the United States, defined since 1968 such that water freezes at exactly 32 °F and boils at exactly 212 °F at standard pressure — giving 180 Fahrenheit degrees over a range of 100 Celsius degrees. The scale was proposed in 1724 by Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit, who calibrated zero against a brine ice bath. To convert °F to °C, subtract 32 then multiply by 5/9.
